I’m a bookworm and I always have a book with me where ever I go! I figured I would share with you guys what book or books I am currently reading or am about to start reading!
Good Morning! I have come across another blog post that I absolutely love and thought I would share it with you all!
I would also like to share a quote from one of my favorite books!⬇📚
“I wondered what was behind this way of seeing things, that women should be defined against men? Or that men and women should even be compared to each other?
Two interrelated attitudes seemed at play. First, men and women are in some ways interchangeable, that what one does the other should do. Second, women are in some kind of competition with men, and for women to progress they need to compete with men. This thinking pretends to put men and women on equal footing, but it actually only pits them against each other in a kind of zero-sum competition in which they usually tear each other down.”
“She firmly believes feminism to be anti-woman because it pressures women to become more like men.
The lesson in all this is that to pit women against men is a form of denigration of women, as though their measure must be determined by masculine standards. The worst standards of masculine value–power usually at the top of those long lists–become the very things that some women are told they must aspire to meet. How ironic that modern culture, by so often intimating power as the highest good, should force women to accept what amounts to nothing less than patriarchal thinking, in the most pejorative sense of that adjective.”
-Eric Metaxas ( 7 Women and the Secret of Their Greatness)
“To me, this is what great books are about, revealing our own lives in a way only stories can; we see ourselves in the characters, our own struggles, and shortcomings, in a way that’s nonthreatening and nonjudgmental. We learn from the characters; we take those lessons and inspiration back to the real world. I believe that a good book leaves its readers better than they were before.”
